Philips Respironics DreamWear Nasal Mask — FAQs
Where are DreamWear exhalation ports located?
The DreamWear Nasal Mask has two exhalation ports. Air is discharged through small holes located on the elbow of the DreamWear mask at the top of the head. A second exhalation port is found on the gel pillow (cushion) of the nasal mask — a small rectangular slit on the front exterior of the cushion allows air to escape from the nostrils.
How do I remove the mask?
The DreamWear Nasal Mask uses a quick-release swivel that allows users to easily and quickly remove the mask from the hose when required. When installing the elbow and swivel, listen for a click to ensure they are firmly connected for use during the night.
Tip: Leave a little slack in the hose to provide some movement. This reduces tug on the mask and preserves the DreamWear mask’s unique fit and comfort.
What can I do if my DreamWear mask leaks?
If your DreamWear mask is leaking, try the following:
- Check all mask connections and ensure they are properly attached — a loose connection can cause leaks.
- Adjust the cushion under the nose; small position changes can restore the seal.
- Tighten or readjust the headgear straps so the fit is snug enough to maintain a good seal without being uncomfortable.
What should I do if my DreamWear mask is whistling?
Whistling often happens because a sheet or blanket is too close to the mask exhaust. Move bedding away from the elbow/exhaust to stop the whistling. Whistling can also indicate a broken or imperfect seal — try adjusting the headgear and repositioning the cushion to improve the seal.
Replacement note: The silicone nasal cradle cushion should be replaced every 3–6 months for best performance.
Can you suggest cleaning tips for DreamWear masks?
- Separate the nasal cushion from the frame.
- Wash the frame in lukewarm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Gently wash the nasal cushion with mild soap and water, removing any debris.
- Rinse the cushion with lukewarm water.
- Set the frame and cushion aside to air dry completely before reassembly.
What is included in the Philips Respironics DreamWear Nasal Mask with Headgear package?
- Mask frame
- Four cushion sizes: Small, Medium, Medium-Wide, Large
- Fabric wraps
- Headgear
Where is the cushion size located?
The DreamWear cushion size is printed in black on the front of the cushion beside the arrow that indicates the frame-to-cushion connection. Available cushion sizes are: Small, Medium, Medium-Wide, and Large.
Where is the frame size located?
To find the DreamWear nasal mask frame size, locate the elbow at the top of the unit. Just above the elbow you’ll see gray letters imprinted on the frame: SM = Small, MED = Medium, LG = Large.
